About the Role
Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Dallas, Texas. This opportunity involves providing specialized care for neonatal patients within a busy and well-equipped unit. The role requires working day shifts with a schedule of 36 hours per week, supporting a dynamic team dedicated to high-quality neonatal care.
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized nursing care for neonatal patients in the NICU
- Manage central lines and respiratory care including intubated patients
- Care for patients aged 2 years and older
- Handle surgical and cardiac patients, including care of trach infants and broviacs
- Collaborate with a team of RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs
- Follow hospital policies and unit-specific procedures (provided during onboarding)
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
- Minimum 1 year of level III NICU experience
- Experience with preemies (at least 28 weeks gestation and above)
- Experience with central lines management
- Respiratory management including intubated patients
- Experience caring for patients aged 2 years and older
- Experience with surgical and cardiac patients, including trach infants and broviacs
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with central line insertions
- Experience with circumcisions
- Experience with exploratory laps
- Experience with gastroschisis reductions
- Experience with PDA ligations
Unit Details
- Unit staffed with RNs, LVNs, PCTs, and Nurse Externs
- Equipment: nasal cannula, Bubble Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP), vents, oscillators, IV pumps, near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS), warmers, isolettes
- Documentation systems: CPN and Meditech
- Floating policy: contract staff float before regular staff
- Floating areas include PICU, Pediatrics, and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CICU)
- Emphasis on team collaboration
Schedule
- Day shifts, 12 hours per shift
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week duration
