About the role

Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) position in Wausau, Wisconsin. This clinical role involves providing specialized neuro critical care to patients with neurological conditions, including stroke, traumatic brain injuries, and neurosurgical cases. The position requires adaptability to float between units and perform neuro-specific bedside procedures, emphasizing assessment skills and resilience.

This neuro unit includes 8 beds serving patients with stroke, TBI, head injury, and neurosurgery. Procedures include neuro assessments, bedside ICU interventions, bolt/drain placements, and neuro patient monitoring. Flexibility for low census hours and adherence to infection control policies, including masking during flu season, are required.

Schedule

• 12-hour night shifts
• Minimum 48 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized neuro critical care to patients with neurological conditions
• Perform neuro-specific bedside procedures and assessments
• Float between Neuro Critical Care ICU and Medical-Surgical ICU units, with potential to other inpatient critical care units
• Perform bolt/drain placements and neuro patient monitoring
• Adhere to infection control policies, including masking during flu season

Requirements

• Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) License
• BLS (American Heart Association or ARC)
• ACLS (American Heart Association or ARC)
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Associate Degree or Certificate

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience with neuro or med/surg ICU background
• At least one travel assignment (preferred)
• Experience as a Neuro Interventionalist (advantageous)
• Familiarity with EVDs and ICP monitoring (advantageous)
