About the Role
Magnet Medical is seeking a travel MRI Technologist for a 13-week assignment in Saint George, Utah. This role involves operating MRI machines to create detailed diagnostic images while ensuring patient safety, comfort, and adherence to protocols.
Responsibilities
- Pre-Procedure Preparation:
- Review patient medical history, doctor’s orders, and previous imaging studies.
- Explain the MRI procedure to patients, addressing questions or concerns.
- Complete necessary documentation, including informed consent and patient information.
- Verify patient identity and screening criteria (e.g., implanted devices, allergies, pregnancy).
- Prepare the MRI room and ensure equipment readiness.
- Conducting MRI Scans:
- Operate MRI machines, adjusting settings for high-quality images as prescribed.
- Position patients correctly on the MRI table, ensuring comfort and safety.
- Administer contrast agents as needed and monitor for adverse reactions.
- Ensure patients remain still during scans for clear, high-resolution images.
- Monitor imaging quality and adjust settings or positioning as necessary.
- Patient Safety and Comfort:
- Ensure safety by verifying no ferrous or metal objects are present on the patient.
- Provide reassurance and instructions during the scan to ensure comfort.
- Monitor patient condition, including vital signs, during the procedure.
- Position patients to avoid injuries or discomfort.
- Post-Procedure Care:
- Assist patients off the MRI table and ensure stability.
- Provide post-procedure instructions, including aftercare for contrast agents.
- Schedule additional scans if required.
- Address immediate concerns or side effects.
- Maintenance and Equipment Care:
- Calibrate and maintain MRI machines, performing basic troubleshooting.
- Clean and disinfect the MRI suite and equipment between patients.
- Monitor equipment performance and report malfunctions.
- Collaboration with Medical Team:
- Communicate with physicians, radiologists, and staff to meet patient needs.
- Review images with healthcare professionals and discuss follow-up needs.
- Ensure images meet diagnostic standards and are transmitted accurately.
- Documentation and Record-Keeping:
- Document patient information and scan results in electronic health records (EHR).
- Label and upload imaging data accurately.
- Maintain logs of equipment usage, maintenance, and issues.
- Radiation Safety and Protocols:
- Follow safety guidelines for contrast agents and non-ionizing radiation equipment.
- Adhere to safety protocols for magnetic fields and other imaging technologies.
- Professional Development and Training:
- Stay current with MRI technology, scanning techniques, and patient care practices.
- Participate in continuing education and maintain licensure.
- Assist in training new MRI technologists or students.

Pay
