Travel MICU RN - $2,107 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for a Medical Intensive Care Unit (MICU) position in Salem, Virginia. The assignment is 13 weeks, 36 hours per week, 12‑hour night shifts. TotalMed RN is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency that places clinicians nationwide.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patients in an Intensive Care Unit setting.
• Provide direct care to patients in life‑threatening situations, documenting and implementing physician‑directed care.
• Assess and implement patient care plans and delegate to other care providers as appropriate.
• Provide education and support to patient families, including long‑term care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests.
• Take samples for lab work, order corresponding lab work and interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads and tubing.
• Communicate patients' conditions to family members.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience.
• ACLS and BLS certification.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to lift 20 pounds easily; moving/lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Tolerance for exposure to chemicals or infectious diseases and ability to treat confused, agitated, or uncooperative patients.
