Job Summary

Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Surgical with Telemetry in Macon, Georgia. This position involves providing specialized nursing care within a busy hospital setting, managing patients with renal, cardiovascular, and post-operative needs. The role requires clinical expertise in telemetry, dialysis management, and patient education, supporting a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Schedule

Nights shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week. Start date: 08/03/2026. Duration: 13 weeks. Float rotation may be required across all adult medical-surgical and telemetry units within the hospital. Rotation includes 5-6 weekend shifts out of 12 within a 6-week schedule. No on-call requirement; works major holidays on a rotational basis.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid license as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • BLS certification
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical or telemetry nursing
  • Proficiency in IV insertion, cardiac monitoring, and dialysis management

Preferred Qualifications

  • ACLS certification
  • National Med-Surg or Nephrology Nursing certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide care for patients with acute or chronic kidney disease, including end-stage renal disease (ESRD), dialysis patients, and post-operative urology or renal-related surgeries
  • Manage common co-morbidities such as diabetes, hypertension, infections, heart failure, and electrolyte imbalances
  • Perform trach care, chest tube management, infusion therapy (insulin, heparin drips), wound care, telemetry interpretation, and discharge planning
  • Utilize equipment such as vital sign monitors (Phillips), Nova Glucose Strips, glucometer, IV Pumps (Alaris), and portable monitoring devices
  • Support within the department includes patient assistance, blood collection, and unit coordination

Additional Information

  • Orientation consists of one day with educational modules and two days of departmental training
  • Scrub color: Navy for RN, Ciel Blue for LPN
