About the role

Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) nurse position is available in a healthcare facility on dayshift. The role involves providing high-quality patient care in a 30-bed COVID unit, managing general and orthopedic trauma patients, and working in a fast-paced acute care environment within a hospital's medical-surgical telemetry unit.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality patient care in a 30-bed COVID unit
• Manage general and orthopedic trauma patients
• Work in a fast-paced acute care environment within a hospital's medical-surgical telemetry unit
• Handle chest tubes, drains, wound vacs, and titrate medications like Amio and Cardizem
• Work four weekends per four-week period, including one major and one minor holiday
• Read cardiac strips and respond to emergency situations

Requirements

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a telemetry or medical-surgical setting
• Valid license to submit
• Recent pass in a dysrhythmia exam
• Ability to read cardiac strips

Skills

• Reading cardiac strips
• Managing chest tubes, drains, and wound vacs
• Titrating medications such as Amio and Cardizem
• Emergency response and certification

Schedule

Dayshift, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week.

Unit Details

• 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Charge nurse and unit supervisor available
• Some respiratory support, such as CPAP
• Prescreening and auto-offer based on prescreen recommendations
• Recent experience within the past 6 months required
• Dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of offer (maximum of 2 attempts)
• Simulated lab on day one of orientation (study guides provided)
