About the Role

Modern Healthcare Solutions is seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a Medical Surgical setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ortho trauma and general surgery, providing high-quality care to patients with a variety of diagnoses.

Responsibilities

  • Administer heparin drips and manage PCA.
  • Provide colostomy care and feeding tube care and management.
  • Oversee blood product administration and central/peripheral line care/management.
  • Perform phlebotomy and PICC line management.
  • Initiate IV starts with proficiency.
  • Monitor and manage dysrhythmias and O2 protocols.
  • Administer non-invasive airway management.
  • Implement isolation precautions and PPE protocols.
  • Care for patients with traumatic brain injuries, orthopedic trauma, and surgical drains.
  • Manage chest tubes (Emerson/Pleuravac) and perform oral suctioning and tracheostomy management.
  • Provide wound care as needed.
  • Document all care and assessments accurately using Epic.

Requirements

  • Active RN license required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in nursing within the last 5 years.
  • First-time travelers are accepted; local candidates are welcome.
  • Must be comfortable with patient ratios of 1:6-7.
  • Experience with Epic documentation is essential.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is preferred.
  • Must pass EKG testing prior to start in this specialty.
  • Travelers will be expected to work every other weekend.
  • Staff may be assigned to a Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events.
  • Floating to similar units and alternate care locations may be required.

Additional Details

  • Shift: 12-hour overnight shifts. Candidates may accept contracts of 36 or 48 hours per week.
  • Patient Demographics: Patients include individuals with severe injuries to bones, joints, and soft tissue, as well as traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries, pain management, and neurological trauma.
  • Unit Orientation: A 12-hour unit orientation and 16-hour organizational education will be provided.
  • Scrubs: Navy scrubs are required for this position.
