Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at a medical center located in Chicago, Illinois. This position involves providing specialized patient care for critically ill adult patients with multisystem organ failure, sepsis, cardiac conditions, neurological events, and post-operative recovery. The role requires a strong ICU background and the ability to work night shifts within a high-acuity environment.
Schedule
- Nights shift, 12-hour shifts
- Minimum of 36 hours per week
Responsibilities
- Provide specialized patient care for critically ill adult patients with multisystem organ failure, sepsis, cardiac conditions, neurological events, and post-operative recovery
- Handle all draws including arterial blood gases
- Float to SICU and telemetry/MS units (first to float)
- Approve time off through designated supervisor
- Work one summer and one winter holiday shift, typically on eves leading into holidays
Requirements
- Valid RN license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale) certification
- At least 2 years of ICU experience
- Resident or authorized to work within the state

- CCRN (Critical Care Registered Nurse) certification

Support on the Unit
- CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) may be available per unit
- Charge nurse manages patient assignments
- Resource nurses, hospitalists, resident physicians, RTs (Respiratory Therapists), and nursing supervisors available 24/7
- Virtual provider access during off hours

- EPIC (preferred)
- Alaris IV Pump
- Pyxis
- Phillips Monitors
- Belfort mass transfusion system
- Kreg verticalization beds
Orientation
- Two shifts of orientation, one in SICU
