• Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical RN experience

Charge Nurse

• Days: Two charge nurses; may carry patient assignments.
• Nights: Two charge nurses: may take assignments. One charge nurse: no patient assignment.

Duties

• Vital signs
• Blood glucose monitoring
• EKGs
• Telemetry monitor placement
• Bathing
• Feeding
• Toileting
• Turning and repositioning
• Respiratory Support
• RT manages: CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow Oxygen, Breathing treatments, Inhalers, ABGs

Telemetry

• RNs are responsible for patient monitoring and basic troubleshooting only.
• Telemetry Central monitor technicians monitor telemetry.
• RNs are not required to independently interpret telemetry strips.

Scheduling

• No self-scheduling
• No block scheduling

Scheduling Notes

• Manager prepares the schedule
• Travelers are expected to be flexible
• Rotating staff generally work 2 weeks on days followed by 2 weeks on nights

Weekend Requirement

• Every other weekend

Holiday Requirement

• Travelers may participate in the holiday rotation.
• RN holidays rotate with permanent staff.

Floating

• May float to:
• Medical-Surgical
• Med-Surg Telemetry
• Intermediate Care (IMC) for lower-acuity patients
