Travel Med Surg Tele RN - $2,645 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency that places nurses, therapists, pharmacists, and other clinicians nationwide. They are seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg / Telemetry for a 13‑week assignment in Chesapeake, Virginia. The position requires 48 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts, and is an immediate travel opening. Candidates should have 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Identify irregular telemetry readings and notify appropriate medical team members.
• Initiate corrective action whenever monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Possess close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• NIH certification
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (as noted in the posting)

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) discipline
• Specialty in Med Surg / Telemetry
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience

Skills

Strong ability to interpret telemetry data, operate monitoring equipment, and respond to abnormal readings; physical stamina for prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting; and precise visual acuity (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment).
