Travel Med Surg RN - $2,148 per week
About the role
Medical Solutions is seeking a talented healthcare professional for a travel nursing position in Urbana, Illinois. This role is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Med Surg, with a duration of 14 weeks and a schedule of 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts.
Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit as specific to the scope of service.
- Implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure integration of information for use by the healthcare team.
- Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implements plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modifies plan of care based upon continuous evaluation.
- Takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicates with others directly and privately to resolve issues.
- Offers constructive feedback to assist in the professional development of peers and confers with colleagues to expand knowledge base.
- Identifies own learning needs and takes initiative to address them.
- Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies.
Department Specific Job Functions
- Provides post-operative care for the complex surgical population.
- Assesses and intervenes appropriately to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase.
- Monitors and cares for newly tracheostomies.
- Assesses and maintains wounds requiring wound vacs and other complex wound management.
- Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies.
- Works collaboratively with the general surgical residency and OMFS residency services.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.
- Illinois state RN License in good standing.
- BLS (American Heart Association).
Preferred Qualifications
- BSN degree.
Skills
- Required Skills: BLS (CPR), Wound Management, Patient Care, RN License.
- Additional Skills: Documentation, Human Resources.
