Responsibilities
- Performs all responsibilities and duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service.
- Implements procedures and theories related to the Med Surg specialty.
- Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care to assure integration of information for the healthcare team.
- Completes initial assessment upon patient admission and develops an appropriate plan of care based on patient and family needs.
- Implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures.
- Modifies the plan of care based on continuous evaluation.
- Ensures patient and employee safety by reporting and correcting safety hazards and incidents.
- Communicates directly with team members to resolve issues and provide constructive feedback.
- Identifies learning needs and takes initiative to expand knowledge base.
- Fulfills all departmental competency requirements.
Department Specific Job Functions
- Provides post-operative care for complex surgical patients.
- Assesses and intervenes to ensure positive outcomes during the post-operative phase.
- Monitors and cares for newly tracheostomized patients.
- Assesses and maintains wounds requiring wound vacs and other complex wound management.
- Assesses, manages, and educates patients and families on new ostomies.
- Collaborates with general surgical residency and OMFS residency services.
Requirements
- Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience.
- Illinois state RN License in good standing.
- BLS certification (American Heart Association).
Qualifications
- Required Education: ASN
- Preferred Education: BSN

Pay
Estimated pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined. Bill rates can change frequently and without notice. Exact pay package may vary based on guaranteed hours, distance traveled, and customizations available for travelers.

- Duration: 13 weeks.
