About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13‑week assignment in North Bergen, New Jersey. The position requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. Candidates should have 1–2 years of recent acute care experience. As a MedSurg RN, you will conduct patient assessments, prioritize data collection based on immediate conditions, perform ongoing assessments and treatments as ordered, document findings, and provide education and support to patients’ families.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑operative patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist physicians during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed.

Requirements

• BLS certification
• 2 years of recent acute care experience
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment start
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to easily lift 20 pounds; patient handling may require lifting up to 50 pounds
• Comfort working in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative

Pay

Pay package is based on 12‑hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
