Travel Med Surg RN - $1,896 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a 13‑week assignment in State College, Pennsylvania. The position requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The MedSurg RN will provide bedside care, administer medications, perform procedures, educate patients and families, and assist with discharge planning.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educates patients on surgical procedures.
• Participates in discharge planning and initiates patient education plan as prescribed by physician.

Requirements

• BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years recent acute care experience (minimum 2 years preferred).
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Able to lift 20 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds when moving patients.
• Capable of working in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.
