Travel Med Surg RN - $1,863 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking a Medical Surgical RN for a travel nursing opportunity in Beckley, WV. This role involves providing bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients, in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patients.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.

Requirements

• 1–2 years recent acute care experience.
• BLS certification.
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, as well as bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Ability to easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times.
• Ability to work with patients who may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative.
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment.

Pay

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.

Schedule

12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week, for an 11-week duration.
