Travel Med Surg RN - $1,833 per week

About the role

Travel nurse RN Med Surg position in Las Cruces, New Mexico. 13-week assignment, 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts. Immediate opening for Medical Surgical RNs with 1–2 years recent acute care experience. As a MedSurg RN, you will conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs, perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician, document patient findings, and provide education and support to patients' families.

Responsibilities

• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician.

Requirements

• BLS certification
• 1.5 years recent acute care experience
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods, bend, lean and stoop without difficulty
• Ability to easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting up to 50 pounds at times
• Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative

Schedule

36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts.

Pay

Pay package based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
