Travel Med Surg RN - $1,649 per week

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Med Surg for a travel nursing assignment in New Albany, Mississippi. The position is for a Medical Surgical RN with 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience, starting immediately.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on immediate conditions or needs.
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician.
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients’ families.
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre‑ and post‑op patients.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medication; report any adverse reactions.
• Change dressings, insert catheters, and start IVs.
• Prepare equipment and assist the physician during examinations and treatments.
• Educate patients on surgical procedures.
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plans as prescribed.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Lift up to 20 pounds routinely; patient moving/lifting may require up to 50 pounds.
• Work in a fast‑paced environment with patients who may be confused, agitated, or uncooperative.

Requirements

• Current BLS certification.
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care (Med Surg) experience.
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
