Travel Med Surg Ortho/Neuro RN - $1,993 per week

About the role

TotalMed is seeking a Medical Surgical RN for a travel nursing opportunity in Medford, Oregon. This is a 13-week night shift position working 36 hours per week (12-hour shifts). The right candidate should have 1-2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patient assessments and prioritize data collection based on patients' immediate conditions or needs
• Perform ongoing assessments and appropriate treatments as ordered by a physician
• Document patient findings and provide education and support to patients' families
• Provide bedside care for a variety of patients, including pre- and post-op patients
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs
• Prepare equipment and aid physician during examination and treatment of patient
• Educate patients on surgical procedures
• Participate in discharge planning and initiate patient education plan as prescribed by physician

Requirements

• 1-2 years recent acute care experience
• BLS certification
• Additional certifications may be required before beginning an assignment

Physical demands

• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time, as well as bend, lean and stoop without difficulty
• Able to easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require lifting of up to 50 pounds at times
• Work in a fast-paced environment treating patients that may be confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative
