About the role
R.J. Corman Railroad Company has an immediate opening for a Travel Mechanic - Railcar to travel to various locations for work.
Responsibilities
- Welding, cutting, and mechanical type repairs
- Forklift operation
- Understanding of documenting work performed and recording material usage
- Ensure that paperwork for railcar repairs is complete and correct
- Ensure that repair jobs are completed in a timely manner
- Ensure that vehicles and shops are kept clean & safe
- Ensure that the employees are working in a safe manner
- Assist with inspection and repairs as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Qualifications
- Mechanical experience preferred
- Must have good communication and people skills with demonstrated ability to develop teamwork and work with all levels of personnel in achieving our goals
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform physical strenuous work
- Able to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch
- Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
- Able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 30 lbs
- Perform a rapid, horizontal hand torque action with a force of 100 lbs
Travel
Travel required 80% of time.
Environmental Conditions
Outside in all elements.
