About the Role
Long Term Care (LTC) registered nurse (RN) position in a 26-bed facility. This role involves acting as charge nurse, passing medications, and performing wound care in a long-term care setting. The position requires night shifts and offers an opportunity to provide quality patient care in a supportive environment.
Care is provided to patients with diagnoses such as heart disease, diabetes, and dementia. The RN reads strips but none are required for their role. No interdisciplinary team involvement, only LTC staff. On-call physician availability after hours by phone. No floating required.
Responsibilities
- Act as charge nurse
- Pass medications
- Perform wound care
- Read patient strips (though none are required for the role)
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of LTC experience
- BLS Certification required
- Valid RN license
- Clean and presentable dress code
- No IVs or titratable drips involved
- Must not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with the organization
Schedule
- 13-week assignment
- 36 hours per week
- 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Orientation: 2-3 shifts specific to the unit
- Maximum of 7 days RTO (Request for Time Off) within the 13-week contract
- Hospital may cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
