Schedule

• 36 hours per week, 12-hour night shifts (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM, 3x12’s)
• Self-scheduling
• Weekly guaranteed hours: 36
• Weekend hours: as needed
• Call requirements: Yes

Requirements

• Required certifications: NRP, BLS
• Preferred certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Intermediate
• Minimum 2 years of experience
• No first-time travelers
• No pre-approved time off per contract

Unit Information

• Number of beds: 24
• Patient ratios: 1:6 (unit census ranges from 3 – 24 patients)
• Equipment: EFM, IV
• EHR: EPIC, Powerchart / Omnicell Med System
• Patient population: Neonates & Adults

Responsibilities

• Manage a 3-couplet assignment
• Triage of obstetrical patients
• Use of External Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM)
• Start and maintain peripheral IVs
• Administer antihypertensives and insulin drips
• Assist with vaginal deliveries
• Recover C-sections
• Perform APGAR scores
• Act as baby nurse (“baby catcher”)
• Collect cord samples
• Apply ID/security banding
• Operate radiant warmers and manage thermoregulation
• Conduct newborn assessments
• Manage epidural anesthesia and pain assessment
• Provide postpartum care and procedures, including mother/baby postpartum care

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in Level 1 Nursery, Mother/Baby, or circulating for C-sections
