About the role

Travel Labor and Delivery Nurse position in Ketchikan, Alaska. This role involves providing professional nursing direct patient care within the labor and delivery department, emphasizing a collaborative, interdisciplinary approach to support patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum care following established standards and policies.

Schedule

• Night shifts, 12 hours per shift
• Minimum 36 hours per week

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, and evaluate patient care needs in labor and delivery
• Document patient care accurately
• Delegate tasks appropriately
• Support patients through labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Float rotation may be required up to 3 times per month, assisting with hands-on tasks, camera watching, or CNA-type work

The department supports neonates, adolescents, infants, and adults, with a daily census of 1-4 patients. The unit is equipped with specialized equipment including fetal monitors, radiant warmers, and labor beds.

Requirements

• 2 years of experience in labor and delivery
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
• AWHONN Intermediate certification
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification
• Pending license accepted

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with electronic fetal monitoring
• Experience with obstetric procedures (e.g., cesarean, vaginal delivery)
• Neonatal assessment skills
• Clinical skills such as administering blood products, epidural management, and newborn care
