Travel Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse - $2,640 per week
About the role
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) specialty position is based in Portage, Wisconsin. This role involves providing expert obstetric and postpartum nursing care within a Level 1 maternity facility. The position requires the ability to adapt to highly variable patient census and a dynamic work environment, ensuring quality care for mothers and newborns during their hospital stay.
The facility has 2 labor rooms and 6 postpartum beds, with a Level 1 maternity and nursery unit. The patient ratio aligns with AWHONN guidelines, and the unit handles approximately 10 deliveries per month. Nurses may be assigned multiple roles including labor, postpartum, and nursery care, often sharing patient loads based on acuity.
Responsibilities
Candidates must demonstrate resilience, adaptability, and strong teamwork capabilities. The position may require floating to other regional facilities and participating in on-call duties, which are included within unbillable hours. During flu season, unvaccinated travelers are required to wear masks at all times in accordance with facility policy.
Requirements
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in obstetrics with labor and delivery skills
- At least one travel assignment experience
- Critical access hospital experience highly preferred
- Charting experience with EPIC electronic medical record system

Pay
Pay package is based on 12 hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
Schedule
Shift Schedule: Rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, totaling a minimum of 36 hours per week. Duration: 13 weeks, Start Date: 08/17/2026.
