About the role
Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN for a 13-week assignment in Portage, Wisconsin. This position offers 36 hours per week with 12-hour rotating shifts, including day and night variables. The role involves working 2 weekends out of 4 and may include floating to OB, L&D, Med/Surg, ER, or ICU for tasks such as vital signs, answering lights, or completing patient histories. No on-call or callback requirements are mandated, though additional shifts may be available to pick up.
Responsibilities
- Provide care for labor, post-partum, and newborn nursery patients (not separate units).
- Adhere to AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios (e.g., 1 RN may manage 2 moms/2 babies or share assignments with another RN).
- Handle triage, labor patients, daily tasks, restocking, and cleaning as needed.
- Float to other units (OB, L&D, Med/Surg, ER, or ICU) for tasks if required.
- Participate in low-census on-call hours (counts toward 36 unbillable hours; callback pay applies with a 2-hour minimum).
- Wear a mask at all times during flu season if declining flu or COVID vaccination.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of OB experience with Labor and Delivery.
- At least 1 travel assignment completed.
- Critical access hospital experience highly preferred.
- EPIC charting experience required.
- Mandatory certifications: BLS, Advanced NRP, WI RN license (AHA or ARC certifications for Ahwonn and PALS preferred).
- Competency in Labor and Delivery.
- No more than 7 days of RTO (Return Time Off) accommodated.
Unit Information
- 2 labor rooms; 6 post-partum beds.
- Level 1 maternity/Level 1 nursery and post-op GYN patients.
- Annual birth rate: ~100 (highly variable month-to-month).
- Average monthly delivery rate: ~10.
- Nurses handle labor, post-partum, and newborn nursery care (not separate units).
- Scrub colors: Any (provided if entering surgery).
