The Registered Nurse (RN) in this role provides quality nursing care to maternal and newborn patients while collaborating with professional staff to deliver services that reflect a compassionate philosophy. The OB RN will also cross-train to care for Med Surg/EICU patients as needed.
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial nursing histories, assess patients' conditions, and develop individualized care plans for assigned patients.
- Triage patient care appropriately based on presenting or expressed symptoms.
- Administer medications accurately.
- Assess labor progression and manage induction of labor and cervical ripening.
- Effectively manage medical emergencies, including prolapsed cord, breech delivery, postpartum hemorrhage, precipitous delivery, uterine rupture, management of meconium, abruptio placenta, and placenta previa.
- Perform and accurately interpret fetal heart monitoring.
- Manage pregnancy-related concerns such as hypertension and diabetes.
- Assess the condition of newborns, recognizing situations requiring heightened surveillance or advanced care.
