About the role

This is a 13-week assignment with night shifts (19:00 - 07:30) on a 3x12-hour schedule. The facility is an acute care hospital with 140 beds and a Level 3 trauma designation. Patient ratios are 1:1 on nights and weekends.

Pay

$2,388 to $2,581 weekly, including taxable wages and tax-free expense reimbursements.

Responsibilities & Skills

  • Administration of blood & blood products
  • Adult and infant/neonatal cardiac arrest management
  • Amnioinfusion
  • Anticoagulation, antihypertensive, and antiseizure therapy
  • APGAR scoring
  • Assist with high-risk and vaginal deliveries, including forceps/vacuum extraction
  • Assist with cesarean sections (circulate and recover)
  • Assist with sterile speculum exams (effacement, dilation, station, presentation)
  • Asthma, cardiac disease, diabetes mellitus, and neurological disease management in obstetrical patients
  • Baby Nurse (“Baby Catcher”) duties
  • Bladder distension management
  • Breastfeeding/lactation support
  • Care for multiple births and multiple gestations
  • Circumcision assistance and post-op assessment
  • Collect cord samples and provide cord care
  • Couplet care (mother/baby)
  • D & C procedures
  • Discharge teaching to parents
  • Epidural and general anesthesia management
  • Episiotomy/incisional care
  • Foley catheter insertion/management
  • Fundus, lochia, and perineum care
  • HELLP Syndrome and pre-eclampsia/eclampsia management
  • Hemorrhage/shock and postpartum hemorrhage management
  • High-risk antepartum care
  • HIV and infectious disease management
  • ID/security banding and infant identification
  • Insulin drip management
  • Interpretation of dysrhythmias
  • Isolation precautions/PPE
  • Labor & delivery, LDRP, and low-risk obstetrical care
  • Magnesium sulfate therapy
  • Malpresentations (breech/face/brow) management
  • Metabolic screen and neonatal abstinence syndrome management
  • Neonatal resuscitation and newborn assessment
  • Newborn hypoglycemia management
  • Nitrous oxide administration
  • Non-stress tests (NST) and oxytocin challenge tests (OCT)
  • Opioid and pain assessment/management
  • Pitocin (oxytocin) administration
  • Placenta previa/abruptio management
  • Premature rupture of membranes and preterm labor management
  • Prostaglandin administration
  • Radiant warmers/thermoregulation
  • Recognition and treatment of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
  • Reflex checks, edema assessment, and clonus evaluation
  • Seizure disorder management
  • Starting and maintaining IVs
  • Sterile vaginal exams
  • Substance abuse management in obstetrical patients
  • Teaching hospital experience
  • Terbutaline administration
  • Thermoregulation
  • Triage of obstetrical patients
  • Use of EFM (External Fetal Monitoring), IFM (Internal Fetal Monitoring), and IUPC (Intrauterine Pressure Catheter)
  • Use of electric/manual breast pumps
  • Use of infusion pumps, drips, and IV monitoring
  • Use of PCA (IV) and rapid response/code teams
  • Vaccine administration
  • Vaginal delivery and VBAC management/trial of labor
  • Wound assessment and care

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience as a Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
  • BLS and NRP certifications
  • NH License or Compact License
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Previous Charge Nurse experience preferred
