Requirements
- Driver’s license required at submittal; used to verify 50-mile radius rule
- Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated
- Artificial nails prohibited in patient-care departments; refusal to remove will terminate contract
- RN pass/fail exam on Friday during orientation (open-book skills exam; 90% required to pass or contract is terminated)
- Certifications Required: BLS, NRP
- Minimum 3 years of labor and delivery experience
Responsibilities
- Department: LDRP RN
- Facility averages 400 births per year
- 15 LDRP beds (Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum)
- AWHONN ratio guidelines: 1:3, 1:1 for laboring patients
- Common diagnoses/patient types: obstetrics, postpartum, antepartum, post-surgical GYN, pregnancy with hypertension or diabetes
- RNs required to titrate drips (common drips: Pitocin, Magnesium, Procardia)
- Floating is rare and only for critical staffing; tasks limited to sitting or non-clinical duties
Schedule
- 12-hour shifts, 6–7 days per week
- Manager completes schedule
- Weekend requirement: every other weekend
- Holiday requirement: yes, if needed
- No call or standby requirement
- RTO (requested time off) allowed upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO not approved
