About the Role
American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist with neuro IR experience for a 13-week contract at an academic, Level I trauma-designated medical center in Virginia.
Assignment Overview
- Shift: Days, 5x8hrs (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
- Hours: 40 hrs/wk
- Start Date: Aug 17, 2026
- Length: 13 weeks
- Openings: 1
- 1–2 on-call shifts per week and 1 on-call weekend per month
- Floating within clinical scope required as needed
- Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
Facility Details
- Interventional Radiology department within a large academic teaching hospital
- Trauma Level I facility; teaching hospital experience preferred
- Equipment includes Siemens imaging systems and PACS
- Epic EMR; experience required
Procedures Performed
- Abdominal/pelvic interventions, angioplasty, embolization, stent placement, carotid stenting
- Upper and lower extremity angiography, cardiac cath and stent placement, PTCA
- IVC filter placement, liver biopsy, mesenteric angiogram, paracentesis, thoracentesis
- ERCP, gastrostomy tube placement, chest tube placement, nephrostomy, cystoscopy
- Percutaneous stone extraction, biliary drainage, renal artery and ureteral stent placement
- Radiofrequency embolization
- Neurological IR procedures including neuro stent placement
Requirements
- ARRT (R) certification required; ARRT Advanced Certification preferred
- Current BLS required
- VA state license required (if applicable); pending license accepted provided it is in hand by the Wednesday before the start date
- Neuro IR experience required
- Prior IR or Neuro IR experience as a staff technologist may be considered in lieu of travel experience; first-time travelers may be considered
- Epic EMR experience required
- Proficiency in interventional radiology procedures including vascular, neuro, and body IR skill sets
- Two professional references required for consideration
- Copy of Driver's License and Social Security Card required for consideration
Additional Information
- Outpatient, OR, C-arm, and nephogram experience is a plus
- Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred
- Candidates who have previously worked at this facility as permanent staff or internal travelers require a 1-year separation and leadership approval before returning; external travelers are not eligible to return after reaching 365 total assignment days
- RTO is capped at 40 hours for the 13-week contract; all RTO must be disclosed prior to offer acceptance
- Orientation includes up to 16 hours of specialty-specific, non-billable modules completed via Workday
