About the role

American Traveler is hiring an Interventional Radiology Technologist for a Cardiac Interventional Radiology position in Charlottesville, Virginia. This is a travel assignment with the following details:

  • Start Date: 08/31/2026
  • Duration: 18 weeks
  • Hours: 40 hours per week, 5x8 hour day shifts (7:30 AM to 4:00 PM)
  • Employment Type: Travel
  • Rotating call required every 4th week
  • Must float within scope of practice as needed
  • 50-mile radius rule applies

Responsibilities

  • Provide imaging support in the Interventional Radiology department, specifically in the OR for vascular IR procedures
  • Work in hybrid OR and special procedures settings
  • Support vascular interventional radiology procedures, including vascular studies and procedures such as angioplasty, endovascular interventions, EVAR, TEVAR, and thrombolysis/thrombectomy
  • Perform upper and lower extremity angiography
  • Prepare access sites and use vascular closure systems (e.g., Perclose, StarClose)
  • Complete specialty-specific orientation modules during onboarding

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Interventional Radiology
  • Current ARRT(VI) and BLS certification required
  • VA state license required if applicable; pending license accepted with in-hand licensure in another state (approximately 8-week ETA)
  • Trauma Level I hospital experience preferred
  • BSN preferred
  • Experience with vascular studies and procedures, including angioplasty, endovascular interventions, EVAR, TEVAR, and thrombolysis/thrombectomy
  • Experience with upper and lower extremity angiography required
  • Carotid stenting and thrombectomy experience preferred
  • Experience prepping access sites and using vascular closure systems (Perclose, StarClose) preferred
  • Experience with Siemens equipment and ultrasound preferred
  • Epic EMR experience required
  • Two professional references required for consideration
  • Copies of all required certifications required for consideration
  • Previous UVA Health employment must be disclosed; a 1-year separation and leadership approval is required for former staff, and external travelers cannot exceed 365 total assignment days
  • Travelers who have reached 365 total assignment days are not eligible to return

Additional Information

  • Assignment length of 18 weeks with potential for extension
  • Maximum of 40 hours RTO per 13-week contract, must be disclosed at time of consideration
  • Any vacation time between sign date and start date must be disclosed to arrange an appropriate start date
