About the role
The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP), specializing in inpatient care, is responsible for evaluating and treating patients with communication, cognitive, and swallowing disorders within an acute care setting. The role involves conducting diagnostic assessments, developing treatment plans, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care. The position is based in a healthcare facility located in Palo Alto, California.
Responsibilities
- Performs clinical evaluations
- Develops and modifies therapeutic interventions
- Manages a caseload
- Ensures accurate documentation and discharge planning
- Participates in interdisciplinary care planning
- Assesses and treats communication, speech, language, cognitive, and swallowing impairments
- Adheres to professional and organizational standards
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an approved Speech Language Pathology curriculum with either a Master's or Doctorate degree
- Current SLP (Speech Language Pathologist) license
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- At least 3 years of acute care experience, preferably in a level 1 trauma center
- Competency and independence with videofluoroscopic swallow studies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in inpatient adult settings
- Familiarity with videofluoroscopic swallow assessments
Schedule
- Day shift, 8 hours per day, with a minimum of 40 hours per week
- Assignment begins on 09/13/2026
- Duration: 13 weeks
