Travel nursing position for a Registered Nurse specializing in Intermediate Care Units in Wausau, Wisconsin. This role involves providing high-quality nursing care on a 36-bed Med Surg Intermediate Care unit with a focus on patients requiring ventilator and tracheostomy management. The position requires adherence to clinical protocols and managing complex patient cases in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
Job Details
- Location: Wausau, WI
- Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts from 7:00 PM to 7:30 AM
- Schedule: 36 hours per week, every other weekend and holiday
- Patient ratio: 4:1
- Scrub colors: Flexible
- Float: May float to higher acuity inpatient units, including all in-patient areas, as needed
- During flu season, travelers who decline vaccination are required to wear a mask at all times
The unit stabilizes and weans ventilated and trached patients, with conditions including sepsis, trauma, alcohol detox, GI bleed, and stroke.
Requirements
- Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license
- BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Minimum of two years of experience in Stepdown, Intermediate, or Progressive Care Unit settings (ICU experience preferred)
- Prior travel experience is necessary
- Ventilator and trach management experience

Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
