About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN Intermediate Care for a travel nursing job in Tyler, Texas. The position is for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) RN, also known as a step‑down nurse, caring for patients who require close monitoring and frequent assessment but are not unstable enough for ICU care. TotalMed RN is a Top Ten travel nursing and healthcare staffing agency that places clinicians nationwide. The assignment lasts 13 weeks, 36 hours per week on 12‑hour day shifts.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic bedside care and stabilize critical cardiac patients.
• Change dressings, insert catheters and start IVs.
• Prepare, administer and record prescribed medication, reporting any adverse reactions to treatment.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients, and interpret and record electronic displays.
• Initiate corrective action whenever information from monitoring equipment shows adverse symptomatology.
• Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean and stoop without difficulty.
• Easily lift 20 pounds; moving or lifting patients may require up to 50 pounds.
• Cope with stress in a fast‑paced environment and relate to patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Requirements

• ACLS certification
• BLS certification
• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience
