Travel ICU RN - $2,537 per week

About the role

TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN specializing in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for an immediate opening in Aberdeen, South Dakota. This 13‑week travel assignment requires 36 hours per week on 12‑hour rotating shifts. Job ID #1521154.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and monitor patients in the ICU setting.
• Provide direct care to patients in life‑threatening situations, documenting and delivering physician‑directed care.
• Assess and implement patient care plans, delegating to other care providers as appropriate.
• Provide education and support to patient families, including long‑term care needs.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report any adverse reactions.
• Order and evaluate diagnostic tests.
• Take samples for lab work, order corresponding lab work, and interpret reports.
• Monitor and adjust specialized equipment; interpret and record electronic displays.
• Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads, and tubing.
• Communicate patients’ conditions to family members.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty.
• Capable of lifting 20 lbs routinely; patient moving/lifting may require up to 50 lbs.
• Potential exposure to hazardous chemicals or infectious diseases.
• May encounter confused, agitated, or uncooperative patients.

Requirements

• 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.
• Current ACLS, BLS, and NIH certifications.
• Additional certifications may be required before starting the assignment.

Schedule

• Duration: 13 weeks.
• Hours: 36 hours per week.
• Shift pattern: 12‑hour rotating shifts.
