Unit Details
- 18-bed ICU (all private rooms with negative-pressure capability)
- Average daily census: 13
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:2 standard
- 1:1 for CRRT/Organ Donation
- May flex to 1:3 during overflow/stepdown
Required Certifications
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
Unexpired driver's license is required with every submission.
Experience Required
- Minimum 1 year of Critical Care/ICU experience
- Prior travel experience preferred
- Must be proficient with:
- CRRT
- IABP
- Ventilator management
- Post-code/Therapeutic Hypothermia
- Vasoactive drips
- Sedation & paralytics
- Central line care/removal
Patient Population
- Sepsis
- Pneumonia
- COVID
- CHF
- COPD
- DKA
- Overdose
- Renal Failure
- Neurosurgery (Lumbar Drains, Ventriculostomies)
- General Surgery
- Occasional MI
- Vascular patients
Clinical Expectations
- ICU nurses titrate all critical care drips
- Responsible for cardiac rhythm monitoring and telemetry interpretation
Support Staff
- Intensivist: 7 AM–7 PM
- Hospitalist: Overnight coverage
- Dedicated ICU Respiratory Therapist (Days)
- Pharmacist on unit: 7:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 1–2 PCTs depending on census
Schedule
- Days: 7:00 AM–7:30 PM
- Nights: 7:00 PM–7:30 AM
- Self-scheduling available
- Block scheduling permitted but not guaranteed
- Every other weekend required
- Holiday rotation based on unit needs
- Travelers may be required to work weekends if staffing requires
- Floating required to Stepdown and Med Surg as needed
Orientation & Dress Code
- Royal Blue scrubs
- EPIC training required before unit start
- 2 orientation shifts
- General education competencies must be completed before arrival
