About the Role
TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) position in Midland, Michigan. This is a 13-week travel assignment with 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of recent acute care experience. Job ID: 1526284.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic bedside care to critically ill patients
- Prepare, administer, and record prescribed medications; report adverse reactions
- Order and evaluate diagnostic tests
- Collect samples for lab work, order corresponding labs, and interpret reports
- Monitor and adjust specialized equipment; interpret and record electronic displays
- Ensure proper placement and functioning of catheters, leads, and tubing
- Communicate patients' conditions to family members
- Document and provide physician-directed care
- Assess and implement patient care plans
- Delegate to other care providers as appropriate
- Provide education and support to patient families, including long-term care needs
Requirements
- ACLS certification
- BLS certification
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care ICU experience
- Additional certifications may be required before assignment start
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods
- Ability to bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
- Ability to lift 20 pounds easily
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds when moving or lifting patients
- Potential exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases
- May treat patients who are confused, agitated, and/or uncooperative
Schedule
- 12-hour night shifts
- 36 hours per week
- 13-week contract duration
Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
