About the Role

A registered nurse specializing in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nursing in Kearney, Nebraska. This role involves providing advanced patient care for critically ill adult patients within a 33-bed intensive care environment. The position requires a focus on trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, and other complex medical conditions, with an emphasis on patient titration and monitoring.

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM or 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM
  • Minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Self-scheduling available for core staff; travelers may be added in
  • Every other weekend work

Responsibilities

  • Provide advanced patient care for critically ill adult patients
  • Manage trauma, cardiac, stroke, sepsis, and other complex medical conditions
  • Titrate cardiac drips, insulin, and sedation
  • Troubleshoot ventilators (nasal cannula to ventilator)
  • Interpret and document telemetry strips (GE brand)
  • Assist with nasal cannula to vent management
  • Float to PCU or MedSurg units as required (patient ratios: 1:2-3 for adults, 1:4-5 during float assignments)
  • Use electronic charting (EPIC)

Requirements

  • Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse
  • Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), and NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Minimum of 2 years of ICU experience
  • Experience with a level 2 trauma unit

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with titrating cardiac drips, insulin, sedation
  • Experience troubleshooting ventilators

Additional Information

  • Weekly orientation consists of 1 shift
  • Upfront RTO (reasons to absence) requests of 7 or fewer days are accepted; additional RTO will not be approved
