Unit information

  • Number of Beds: 80
  • Patient Ratios: 1:6 during the day, 1:8 at night
  • Unit Staffing: 1 Health Unit Coordinator, 2 Rehab Technicians
  • Type of Equipment: Sara Stedy, Sara Plus, Hoyer Lift, Viking, sliding boards, etc.
  • Documentation System: Meditech and RehabConnect
  • Floating Policy: Dedicated to the rehab facility, flexible assignments may be required
  • Patient Experience Requirements: Experience with TBI, stroke, orthopedic cases, cardiac rehabilitation, spinal cord injury, pulmonary conditions, and general debility

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on occupational therapy services to patients.
  • Utilize advanced skills in techniques such as e-stim, ultrasound, splinting, wound care, and limb wrapping.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams and communicate with family members about patient progress and training.
  • Implement safe patient handling techniques and manage strategies for preventing complications such as autonomic dysreflexia and skin integrity issues.
  • Conduct assessments and develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs.
  • Train patients in the use of wheelchairs, prosthetics, orthotics, and adaptive equipment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Minimum degree in Occupational Therapy with current licensure to practice in NC.
  • Experience: Preferred experience in an inpatient rehab setting.
  • Skills: Proficiency in patient handling techniques; Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration; Good time management and critical thinking abilities

Dress code

Rehab casual attire or black scrub bottoms with eggplant purple scrub tops required.

Awards/Recognition

This facility is a teaching hospital with active student rotations and a certification in young CVA programs. The unit is equipped with various specialized equipment to enhance patient therapy.
