About the Role
American Traveler is hiring an Occupational Therapist for a 13-week travel assignment in a home health setting near Fort Dodge, IA. The role covers a 50-mile radius around Fort Dodge, with travelers averaging 200-250 miles per week and seeing 4-6 patients per day. Patients typically require short-term therapy following hospitalization or a nursing home stay.
The team includes 1 PT, 1 OT, 1 PTA, and 1 COTA, with weekly virtual meetings and monthly in-person meetings. Epic EMR is used for documentation.
Responsibilities
- Provide occupational therapy services in a home health setting.
- Manage a caseload of 4-6 patients per day, primarily short-term therapy cases.
- Document patient care using Epic EMR.
- Participate in weekly virtual team meetings and monthly in-person meetings.
- Travel within a 50-mile radius of Fort Dodge, IA (mileage reimbursed).
Requirements
- Active Occupational Therapist state license (Iowa state license required; compact license accepted).
- Minimum 2 years of OT experience.
- Home health experience preferred but not required.
- BLS certification required.
- Epic EMR experience preferred.
- Must have own vehicle for travel (mileage reimbursed).
- Must not have been employed by the facility within the past 12 months.
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
Schedule
- 13-week assignment starting August 31, 2026.
- 40 hours per week, 8-hour day shifts (5x8hrs).
- Orientation begins every Monday, including general orientation, online courses, and 2 days of Epic training.
- Ride-along/shadow visits during orientation.
- Travelers required to work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving).
- Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods (late November and December/January).
