About the role

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room (ER) team. The ER is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, providing critical care and treatment to approximately 14,000 patients annually. The ideal candidate will demonstrate professionalism and excel in high-pressure situations, delivering compassionate and effective emergency nursing care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough patient assessments and triage to prioritize care based on severity of condition.
  • Collaborate with medical staff to implement treatment plans and monitor patient progress.
  • Administer medications, perform high-quality clinical procedures, and ensure patient safety.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding care processes and treatment options.
  • Document all nursing activities accurately in the patient’s medical record.
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current in emergency nursing practices.

Schedule

  • This position requires 12-hour night shifts, with a commitment to working 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend and holiday shifts are required every other weekend, including major holidays as needed.
  • Specific requests for time off must be provided at the time of application and should not exceed five days.
  • Orientation is non-billable, and two blocks of schedule availability during major holidays are essential.
  • All scheduling requests must be submitted at the time of application; no changes will be accepted thereafter.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in an Emergency Department setting.
  • Preferred: 3 months minimum travel nursing experience.
  • Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • Candidates must possess valid and current certifications:
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support, American Heart Association)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Heart Association)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Heart Association)
  • Active Vermont RN license or Compact license required.
  • A supervisory signed reference from the past two years of employment is required.
  • Travelers must possess their own vehicle.
