Travel ER RN - $2,278 per week

About the role

Modern Healthcare Solutions is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department in Des Moines, Iowa. The assignment starts 11/09/2026 and lasts 13 weeks, with 36 hours per week (3×12‑hour day shifts). The unit is an 18‑bed emergency department serving behavioral health, pediatric, and adult patients with a 4:1 nurse‑to‑patient ratio; staff wear navy blue solid‑color scrubs.

Responsibilities

• Provide efficient and compassionate care to patients in a fast‑paced emergency department.
• Work 3×12‑hour shifts per week, with holiday rotation (availability for 1‑2 of the upcoming three winter holidays unless the unit is closed).
• Work every 4th weekend; no on‑call responsibilities.
• Float across multiple facilities within the region as needed, adapting to unit needs and skill set.
• Administer sedation and vasoactive drips; read, measure, and interpret telemetry strips.
• Use EPIC electronic medical records (preferred).

Requirements

• Minimum 36 months of recent experience in emergency medicine.
• Experience caring for both pediatric and adult patients.
• Experience with behavioral health patients is highly preferred.
• Level II trauma experience required; Level I trauma experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Active TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification.
• BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
• Proficiency in administering sedation and vasoactive medications.
• Ability to read, measure, and interpret telemetry strips.

Skills

• Strong clinical judgment in emergency care.
• Effective communication and teamwork in a high‑acuity setting.
• Adaptability to float between units and facilities.
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR (preferred).

Schedule
