This role involves providing critical care and support to patients with complex medical needs. General Information Number of Beds: 71 (functions as a Level I trauma unit) Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years' experience with Cerner or EPIC and Level II Trauma or higher experience for first-time travelers. Experienced travelers should have at least 2 years of critical care experience in ICU, ER, or MS holds, with the most recent year in a Level II ER. Patient Types Multi-System Trauma (Level II) STEMI Stroke CHF COPD GI GU OB/GYN Pediatrics Psychiatric Patient Ratios 1:4 in the Emergency Room (ER) 1:5 in Medical-Surgical Holds 1:3 in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Holds Required Certifications BLS ACLS PALS Secure/CPI (nationally recognized/JACHO accepted) NIHSS TNCC Skills Required Trach care and vent care ICU drip care and maintenance Chest tube management Arterial line (art line) insertion Centrally Venous Line (CVL), PICC, and midline management Foley catheter care Application and care for splints/orthopedic devices Bipap/High flow oxygen therapy Continuous bladder irrigation Unit Support CNA Ratio: 1:12 Receptionist/HUC available Phlebotomy services available until 0300 IV/VAT Team support Hospitalist support available No telemetry monitoring tech Technology and Equipment EMR: Cerner IV Pumps: Plum 360 Medication Dispensing: Omnicell Monitors: Spacelabs Orientation and Scheduling Orientation: 24 hours of classroom training and 24 hours on the unit for new travelers or those returning after 1+ years. Rehires may have orientation duration based on their last date of employment. Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend or 4 weekend days per month, depending on scheduling. Holiday Expectations: One major and one minor seasonal holiday per policy. Approval of Time Off: Up to 7 days off may be approved, excluding specified blackout dates.
