Requirements

2 years ER experience
At least 6 months of Trauma Level 1 experience as core staff
Must pass DYS exam prior to accepting (2 attempts; failure results in 6-month disqualification with CS AZ and Sac Region)
Travel teams must have their own vehicles
Natural hair color and no facial piercings
Men must be clean-shaven for fit test
Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS (ENPC not accepted as substitute)
Preferred certifications: TNCC and ATCN
50-mile radius rule; driver’s license is source of truth (no local rates)

Responsibilities

Float between 4 facilities (Joseph’s Main, St. and others, approximately 30 minutes apart; may be floated mid-shift)
Complete pass/fail exam on Day 1 of orientation (study guide provided with FDI)
Complete SIMs Lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (exceptions: NyICU & ED)
Adhere to 1:4 patient ratio
Fulfill 4 weekend shifts per month (at unit discretion)
Wear navy scrub color
Interpret telemetry strips (Phillips monitors)

About the Unit

36 acute beds and 54 subacute beds
6 trauma bays (no travelers assigned)
2 Charge RNs (may task or have light patient load)
4 PCTs available for sitters
EMR: Cerner
Hospitalist/Intensivists in-house (minimum 2 MDs, up to 8; midlevels also utilized)
Anesthesia support available
IV Team: Core RNs are US-trained
RT 24/7 and Pharmacy 24/7 (Pharmacist in ER 10 hours/day)
First to float to sister campus
