Travel Emergency Room RN - $3,184 per week

About the role

Travel RN ER assignment at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia. The Level 1 Trauma Emergency Department is a large academic unit with 40 beds, serving over 70,000 patients annually. Norfolk offers waterfront views, a vibrant arts scene, and a welcoming community.

Responsibilities

• Provide care for patients presenting with chest pain, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, STEMI, stroke, and trauma.
• Perform moderate and deep sedation, central venous line insertion, laceration repair, and traction.
• Manage BIPAP and ventilator support, cardiac monitoring, pacing, and chemical restraints.
• Administer and titrate vasoactive drips (levophed, neosynephrine, esmolol, nitroglycerin, dopamine, dobutamine).
• Utilize NIH Stroke Scale certification and tele‑interpretation as required.

Requirements

• Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum 2 years of ER experience, with at least 18 months within the last 3 years.
• At least 1 prior travel assignment.
• Previous Level I Trauma ER experience (listed on work history).
• Certifications: BLS‑AHA, ACLS‑AHA, PALS‑AHA, CERT‑TNCC, CERT‑NIH Stroke Scale.
• Ability to float, work holidays and weekends.
• Compliance with artificial nail policy.

Preferred Qualifications

• Compact RN license in‑hand.
• Experience with EPIC EMR.

Skills

Pay

Pay rate: $3,104.00 – $3,264.00 (based on 12‑hour shifts and 48 hours per week). Tax‑free stipend amount to be determined.
