Travel Emergency Department RN - $1,642 per week
About the role
TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for an Emergency Department position in San Antonio, Texas. This is a 13-week travel assignment with 36 hours per week on 12-hour night shifts. The ideal candidate has 1–2 years of recent acute care experience and will work with a diverse team to evaluate, triage, and implement care using correct procedures and physician instructions. The role involves caring for patients in a fast-paced, urgent, and emergency environment, performing minor medical operations, advising patients and families on illnesses or injuries, planning long-term care needs, documenting medical history, checking for allergies, obtaining vital signs, and monitoring patients' emotional and physical well-being.
Responsibilities
- Provide basic bedside care
- Clean and bandage wounds
- Provide IV therapy
- Maintain supplies and medical equipment
- Report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies
- Stand and walk for long periods; bend, lean, and stoop without difficulty
- Lift up to 20 pounds easily; move or lift patients up to 50 pounds at times
- Exercise good stress-coping skills in a fast-paced environment
- Relate effectively to people of all ages and backgrounds
Requirements
- PALS certification
- BLS certification
- ACLS certification
- NIH certification
- TNCC certification
- CPI certification
- 2 years of recent acute care experience
- Additional certifications may be required before beginning the assignment
Pay
Pay package is based on 12-hour shifts and 36.0 hours per week (subject to confirmation) with a tax-free stipend amount to be determined.
Schedule
12-hour night shifts, 36 hours per week.
