TotalMed RN is seeking a travel nurse RN for the Emergency Department in Des Moines, Iowa. The position starts 10/19/2026, lasts 26 weeks, with 36 hours per week on 12‑hour night shifts. The ideal candidate has 1‑2 years of recent acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Work with a diverse team to evaluate, triage, and implement care per physician instructions.
• Perform minor medical operations and advise patients/family on illnesses or injuries.
• Plan long‑term care needs.
• Document medical history and check for allergies.
• Obtain patient vital signs.
• Monitor patients’ emotional and physical well‑being.
• Provide basic bedside care.
• Clean and bandage wounds.
• Provide IV therapy.
• Maintain supplies and medical equipment.
• Report suspected abuse to appropriate agencies.
• Stand, walk, bend, lean, and stoop for extended periods; lift up to 20 lb routinely and up to 50 lb when moving patients.
• Cope with stress in a fast‑paced environment and relate to patients of all ages and backgrounds.

Requirements

• ACLS certification

• PALS certification
• TNCC certification
• NIH certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care experience (1‑2 years preferred)
• Additional certifications may be required before assignment.
