About the role
The Project Manager, CX (Commissioning Manager) oversees commissioning activities for MEP systems, focusing on LEED Enhanced Commissioning and Building Envelope commissioning. This role champions "The Layton Way" and ensures "Constructing with Integrity," leading high-performing teams through complex projects.
Responsibilities
- Champions "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal and external teams and customers.
- Ensures "Constructing with Integrity" by working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality of work.
- Leads and collaborates with high-performing teams throughout the construction and commissioning lifecycle, especially for complex, mission-critical facilities like data centers, hospitals, laboratories, and airports.
- Fosters integration across disciplines—mechanical, electrical, controls, and operational technology platforms—to ensure seamless system performance.
- Pairs with technical experts and subject matter authorities to develop and refine process documentation aligned with organizational standards and best practices.
- Creates compelling written and visual documentation that clearly communicates systems design, intent, and operational functionality.
- Applies experience and insight, along with collaboration with design and engineering teams, to define effective commissioning processes.
- Interprets and analyzes design plans and technical specifications with precision.
- Gathers, evaluates, and synthesizes information from a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducts thorough reviews of design drawings, engineering specifications, and equipment submittals.
- Performs additional responsibilities in support of project and team objectives as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related technical field, or 8+ years of relevant experience.
- BCxA ACP or CCP certification (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of ASHRAE commissioning procedures and MEP systems, including HVAC, electrical, BAS, plumbing, lighting, fire/life safety, and security.
- Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
- Excellent communication skills with a strong ability to lead and collaborate in high-performing teams.
- Comfortable working in a mobile, dynamic environment.
- Knowledge of construction engineering technology, codes and standards, and an in-depth understanding of the interdependence and relationship between other functional units.
- Experience with Data Centers and other Mission Critical jobs preferred.
