Travel CVU Stepdown RN - $2,288 per week
Travel nursing opportunity in Omaha, Nebraska for a Stepdown RN specializing in a Cardiovascular Unit (CVU). 13-week contract starting 08/30/2026 with 36 hours per week, 12-hour day shifts.
About the Role
Join an 18-bed Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) caring for complex cardiac and post-surgical patients in a collaborative, high-acuity environment. This role involves intermediate cardiac care with a focus on telemetry interpretation and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips.
Responsibilities
- Interpret cardiac telemetry and manage patient rhythms.
- Titrate cardiac and vasoactive drips, including:
- Amiodarone
- Nitroglycerin
- Nicardipine
- Cardizem
- Epinephrine
- Manage blood pressure infusions and care for patients on BiPAP, CPAP, and oxygen therapy.
- Provide care for post-surgical cardiac, thoracic, and electrophysiology (EP) patients, as well as those recovering from structural heart procedures, Cath Lab, and stroke (CVA).
- Adhere to unit-specific nurse-to-patient ratios:
- 1:3 for fresh post-surgical cardiac patients (first 24 hours)
- 1:4 for other patients
- Float to similar or lower acuity units only.
- Work every other weekend (no call required).
- Pass an open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of CVU/Cardiac Stepdown experience with a similar patient population.
- Active BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
- Strong telemetry interpretation skills.
- Experience titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips.
- Valid driver’s license required at submission.
- Must not be currently employed (Full-Time, Part-Time, or PRN) with any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility.
- 50-mile radius rule applies.
- Maximum 7 days of RTO (Requested Time Off) per 13-week assignment (must be submitted upfront).
- Artificial fingernails are prohibited in patient care areas.
