Job Description & Requirements

Fusion Medical Staffing is seeking a skilled CVOR Surgical Technologist for a 13-week travel assignment in Fargo, North Dakota. The position offers competitive pay, comprehensive benefits, and support from a dedicated clinical team.

  • One year of recent experience as a CVOR surgical tech
  • Current BLS Certification (AHA/ARC)
  • CST or nationally recognized equivalent certification (preferred)

Essential Work Functions

As a CVOR surgical technologist, you will facilitate the safe and effective execution of cardiovascular surgical procedures under the supervision of the surgeon. Your responsibilities include:

  • Preparing the operating room prior to surgical procedures
  • Stocking surgical supplies and inspecting surgical machines and equipment
  • Auxiliary roles in transporting patients to and from surgery
  • Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the surgical team
  • Anticipating the surgeon’s needs and efficiently passing instruments
  • Maintaining sterility by cleaning and sterilizing instruments and equipment
  • Performing cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including open and closed heart surgeries
  • Maintaining proficiency in cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures
  • Adhering to hospital safety protocols, infection control guidelines, and regulatory standards

Required Essential Skills

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following skills:

  • Critical thinking, service excellence, and good interpersonal communication skills
  • The ability to read, write, and communicate in the English language
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and proficiency in PC skills
  • Physical abilities: remain in a stationary position, move about, move equipment (50-100lbs), push, pull, and bend
  • Interpersonal skills: work effectively with a variety of personnel (professional and ancillary) to present a positive attitude and professionalism
  • Technical/motor skills: grasp, perform fine manipulation, push/pull, and move about when assisting with procedures and/or using department equipment
  • Mental requirements: cope with frequent contact with the general public and customers while meeting deadlines under pressure, work under close supervision occasionally, and work without assistance from other personnel
  • Sensory: possess visual acuity and ability to effectively communicate
