About the role
Surgical technologists prepare the operating room, including the sterile field, set up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions. During surgery, they pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon and manage surgical equipment. They also maintain the sterile field and count sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the operating room and set up surgical equipment, supplies, and solutions.
- Pass instruments, fluids, and supplies to the surgeon during surgery.
- Manage surgical equipment and maintain the sterile field.
- Count sponges and supplies to prevent foreign retained objects.
- Perform duties under supervision of the surgeon and anesthesia team.
Requirements
- MUST HAVE CVOR EXPERIENCE
- CERTIFIED SURGICAL TECH
- CARDIAC AND VASCULAR EXPERIENCE
- TAKING CALL SHIFTS IS A MUST
- CST CERTIFICATION IS PREFERRED
- CURRENT REQUIREMENTS ARE AS FOLLOWS BUT MAY CHANGE BASED ON STAFFING:
- 1 ON-CALL SHIFT PER WEEK
- 1 FULL WEEKEND IN A 4WK PERIOD
Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have completed a CAAHEP-accredited program or other programmatically-accredited surgical technology program and have successfully passed the Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) examination administered by the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
