Unit Details

• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Nurse-to-patient ratio:1:1 (high acuity)1:2 (standard)
• Required Clinical Skills: Titration of vasoactive drips, Cardiac rhythm interpretation, Ventilator management, Care of critically ill cardiovascular patients
• Common Drips: Dexmedetomidine (Dex), Propofol, Dopamine, Neosynephrine, Epinephrine, Levothrombin, Insulin, Cardene
• Mandatory Equipment: In-room Nihon Kohden monitors, Mechanical ventilators, BiPAP, CPAP, Vapotherm, High-flow oxygen
• Scheduling: 12-hour shifts (7:00–7:00)
• Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts every pay period (2 weeks)
• Holiday rotation required
• May float based on competency to: ICU, PCU, Medical-Surgical, Telemetry

Candidate Requirements

• More than 2 years of recent CVICU experience
• Must have experience with: Fresh Open Heart Surgery (directly from the OR), IABPCRRT, Impella experience is highly preferred

Required Certifications

• ACLS
• BLS

Common Patient Population

• Acute Myocardial Infarction (AMI)
• Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
• Peripheral Vascular Disease (PVD)
• Fresh Open Heart Surgery patients

Unit Specific Skills

• Titrating vasoactive drips
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Ventilator management
• Care of critically ill cardiovascular patients
